Risky Stimuli

Wednesday 3rd October 2012

Today’s lesson took place at the MAC (Midlands Art Centre), it is a privilege to be able to study and work in this venue. It was a great choice by the course creators to choose this as one of our campuses; the venue is just bursting with opportunities day and night. Not to mention the multiple performance spaces. The performance spaces available may or may not come in handy to my groups ‘Risk’ project.

What ‘Risk’ project I hear you say? In our lesson today our lecturer Ellie informed us that we would be working on a three week induction project. Commencing the 2/10/12 and ending 19/10/12. Our stimulus is the word ‘RISK’: from that we must devise a 30 minute theatre piece based on this, working in a group. At the end of the three weeks our productions will be displayed to an invited audience.

We will be marked on the following units:
28: Development of Acting Skills
29: Devising Performance
73: Voice and Speech Development and Practice

The way we ended up in our groups was purely by chance (oh so risky); the reaction game in which people walk around the room and have to group up into the amount shouted out is how we found our cohort.
My group consist of:

  • ·         Zoe Horton,
  • ·         Danny Tester,
  • ·         Jonathan Mayling,
  • ·          Dannel Betton,
  • ·         Kevin Glover,
  • ·         Sinead Maddix,
  • ·         Alex Nankivell (Our group’s assigned technician)
  • ·         And myself Lexia Tomlinson
